Carnavalito Sweater

In the highlands of Humahuaca, a collective of master weavers, guardians of an enduring textile tradition, joined Jackie Smith in a process that quietly bridged landscapes, stories, and time. Hand-knitted using naturally dyed llama wool, each piece unfolds as a study in color and memory. Terracotta hues echo sun-warmed earth, cactus greens trace the resilience of native flora, while ochres, high-altitude blues, and vivid magentas emerge like fleeting blooms across an arid terrain. There is a rhythm to this work, one that speaks of patience, of gestures learned and passed down, of hands that carry both precision and emotion. The collection becomes more than a series of garments; it is a conversation between generations, between craft and contemporary design, between what has been inherited and what is still becoming. A celebration of color, of community, of making with intention. A return, not to the past, but to something deeply rooted.
